Privacy Policy

This Privacy Policy explains how Sundaze, published by Bitward, handles information when you use the application.
Information we collect
Sundaze does not require an account and does not collect your name, email address, advertising identifier, contacts, photos, or other personal profile information. The app does not use advertising or cross-app tracking technologies. It does use privacy-respecting product analytics, crash reporting, install attribution and subscription processing, described below.
Location information
Sundaze uses your device’s location to provide weather information relevant to your current position. The app requests access through Apple’s standard iOS location-permission dialog and accesses your location only after you grant permission.
When weather information is requested, your geographic coordinates are transmitted from the app through a proxy operated using Cloudflare and then to WeatherAPI.com, which returns the corresponding weather information. If you look up the weather for another place by typing its name, the text you enter is sent along the same path — through the Cloudflare proxy to WeatherAPI.com — to identify the place and return its weather. Recently chosen places are kept only on your device.
Your location is used solely to provide weather functionality. Bitward does not use it for advertising, profiling, analytics, or tracking. You may deny or revoke location access at any time in your iPhone settings. Some weather functionality may then be unavailable.
Cloudflare proxy
Sundaze uses Cloudflare to relay weather requests and protect its private weather-provider credentials (the WeatherAPI.com API key and the Apple Weather authentication key). Bitward does not maintain user accounts, a user database, or persistent server-side records of your location or weather requests. The proxy is not intentionally configured by Bitward to store your location.
As a network service provider, Cloudflare may automatically process limited technical information necessary to transmit and secure requests, such as IP addresses, request timestamps, and network or security metadata. Cloudflare handles this information according to its own privacy practices.
Weather providers
Weather information is supplied by WeatherAPI.com and, when its data fails an automatic quality check, by Apple Weather (Apple’s WeatherKit service). To return weather data for your position, WeatherAPI.com receives the location coordinates or the place name included in the request and may receive technical request information from the Cloudflare proxy; Apple Weather receives location coordinates only, is contacted by the proxy itself, and does not receive your IP address.
Product analytics (PostHog)
To understand how Sundaze is used and to improve it, the app sends a limited, predefined set of usage events (for example: app opened, onboarding completed, a free-tier limit reached, a subscription started) to PostHog, hosted in the European Union. Events carry coarse technical properties such as the device model, the number of days since installation, and whether Premium is active. They never include your name, your precise location, advertising identifiers, or the content of your weather requests. Automatic screen capture and session replay are disabled.
Install attribution (Singular)
To measure whether its advertising works, Sundaze uses Singular, a mobile attribution service. Attribution relies on Apple’s privacy-preserving SKAdNetwork framework and on a random identifier generated by the app for your installation. Sundaze does not request App Tracking Transparency permission, does not access the advertising identifier (IDFA), and does not use fingerprinting. A small set of commercially significant events (for example completing onboarding or starting a subscription) is reported to Singular together with that identifier.
Crash and performance reporting (Sentry)
To find and fix defects, crash and performance reports are sent to Sentry, hosted in the European Union. Reports contain technical information about the device and the state of the app at the moment of a problem — such as the device model, operating-system version, thermal state, and whether a video export was running. They are not used for advertising or profiling.
Purchases and subscriptions
Payments are processed by Apple; Bitward does not receive your payment-card details. So that subscription events occurring while the app is closed (such as renewals or refunds) can still be attributed, Apple sends cryptographically signed notifications to a small service operated by Bitward on Cloudflare. The service verifies each notification and forwards the event to Singular, identified only by the app’s random per-install identifier. It stores nothing and holds no user database.
Data storage and sharing
Bitward does not create user profiles or persistently store your location, weather requests, or usage history on its servers. Bitward does not sell or rent your information, and does not use it for advertising.
Location and technical request information is disclosed only to Cloudflare, which relays and protects API requests, and WeatherAPI.com, which supplies weather data. These providers may retain limited technical information according to their own policies and legal obligations.
In addition, usage events go to PostHog, crash reports to Sentry, and attribution events to Singular — each as described above and only for the purposes stated.
Legal basis and your choices
Where applicable under European data-protection law, location information is processed with your permission and solely to provide the weather functionality you request. You may withdraw this permission at any time by disabling location access in your iPhone settings.
International data transfers
Cloudflare, WeatherAPI.com and Apple may process information in countries other than your country of residence. Any such processing is governed by their respective privacy policies and applicable data-protection safeguards.
Children’s privacy
Sundaze is not designed to collect personal information from children. It does not require an account, and Bitward does not knowingly create profiles of children or use their information for advertising or tracking.
Security
Reasonable technical measures are used to protect weather requests, including encrypted HTTPS connections and a Cloudflare proxy that prevents the weather providers’ keys from being exposed within the app. No transmission or processing system can be guaranteed to be completely secure.
Your rights
Depending on where you live, you may have rights concerning your personal information, including rights of access, correction, deletion, restriction, objection, or withdrawal of consent. Because Bitward does not maintain user accounts or persistently store location histories, it may not hold information that can be identified as belonging to you.
Changes to this policy
This Privacy Policy may be updated when the app, its service providers, or applicable legal requirements change. The updated policy will be published here with a revised effective date.
